I have to say, this election has been the most contentious contest I have ever had the misfortune to witness. To coin a phrase, “I know the election process, and this is no election process.”
Each day brings new acrimony by the press, by the candidates, and the general public. Is because people can weigh in more than ever before thanks to social media? Is it because the media has forgotten how to be non-partisan and just report the facts? Or is it because there are too many news channels that have to feed the 24-7 news cycle?
I don’t know, but I wish they would give it all a rest. I am so tired of turning on the tube or the radio and being bombarded with all the nonsense of “Donald said,” “Hillary said.”
To make matters worse, the talent have an obsessive need to continually translate sound bytes. Enough already! Most of America can pretty much figure out what Donald and Hillary mean when they hop aboard their soap boxes — we really don’t need translations of the nasty, back-biting, downright mean rhetoric that each spews.
Hillary has gone on and on about Donald’s taxes. Really? Does Hillary expect us to believe that she and Tricky Bill honestly pay their fair share? We all know that ain’t so. And what exactly is the Clinton Foundation hiding?
Donald keeps on harping on Hillary’s health. What about his health? Both of them are up in age.
There are too many important issues that are going by the wayside, because these two adults (and I use the term very loosely) can’t get over high-school hijinks and get down to brass tacks.
If Trump wins, will he fix the tax code? If Hillary wins, will she fix national security? What will either do to ease the burden on the middle class? Will either change the same old same old politics that has put the country into debt? Will either stem the tide of illegal immigration?
Not for Nuthin™ but I’m thanking the universe that I only have to deal with this nonsense for one more month. I can’t wait to get back to enjoying television without the unending “Donald and Hillary Hour.”
