Really? Forcing The Donald to make an oath not to go rogue and run as an Independent? What was Fox thinking?
And what a crock this debate was. A total waste of airtime.
But this is what happens to an all-news-all-the-time channel when there is too much free time and not enough disasters to cover.
Let’s host a debate, where no one else can stream it, and then let’s make a mockery out of the whole process and sell airtime and make points with the ratings.
The three anchors, Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly, and Chris Wallace, tried their very best to make The Donald look inept, but no matter how hard the three amigos tried, they couldn’t do it. Trump was not to be trumped. The pumped, primed, and prepared Trump was far too formidable to take down.
Donald Trump was Donald Trump — he was true to himself — which in a sense makes him more appealing as a president than any other candidate — and the biggest threat to the establishment of all of them.
Speaking of which, the rest of the pack is really having one heck of a panic attack. Basically, any which way you cut it, Donald is a very real threat to the Republican Party. Those good old boys are putting the wagons in a circle and protecting the party against the big, bad businessman who speaks the truth.
I would say that the only real contenders for the coveted nomination, aside from Donald Trump, are:
• Marco Rubio — he is young, has the Hispanic vote and is still mainstream-conservative enough to attract middle America.
• Chris Christie — not that I think an Italian will ever break the Republican glass ceiling, but I do like his honesty and the fact that he doesn’t overly pander when it comes to getting what he wants.
• Jeb Bush — no matter what he says about being his own man, he still has the Bush billions to back him up, so let’s not discount the Bush oil that is lubricating his political machinery.
Not for Nuthin,™ but the biggest reason that I like Donald Trump is because of his response to Megyn Kelly: “I don’t have time for political correctness, and neither does this country.”
I couldn’t have said it better myself — let’s deal with the real issues this country faces and find a way to correct them. Leave the political correctness out of it.
