We don’t know what’s more criminal, the fact that he took $18,000 from a local bank or the fact that he jumped an entire line of customers to get to the loot.
Nevertheless, cops are looking for the rather photogenic note−passing bandit snapped up by a surveillance camera as he robbed the Sovereign Bank on Atlantic Avenue near Court Street Thursday morning.
Workers at the bank said that the suspect, believed to be a Hispanic male in his mid to late 20s, entered the bank just before 11 a.m., jumped the line and handed the teller his threatening note.
Although he never showed the teller a weapon, he reportedly claimed he was going to shoot someone if the teller didn’t empty out her cash drawer.
The teller handed over the bailout package to the thief, who fled the bank without saying a word.
Police said that the 5’7” to 5’9” 160−pound thief was wearing a white Kangol hat, a white hoodie jacket, black pants with white stripes and black sneakers during the robbery. He was also carrying a gym bag.
Anyone with information regarding the thief’s whereabouts is urge to call the NYPD CrimeStoppers hotline at (800) 577−TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
