The Parade Grounds played host to a fun-filled meet-and-greet between New York’s Finest and the public at large during this year’s annual Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday — and who showed up but Mayor Bloomberg and pal Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.
“My daughter had her picture taken with the commissioner,” said Hamirah Pride, proud mother of 4-year-old Amidhas. “And it was the first time I’ve ever seen the mayor. Everybody was running around trying to get a look. It was pretty cool.”
Night Out Against Crime is a national event, which was introduced in 1984 to promote fellowship between officers of the law and the citizens they’re charged to protect.

It’s also a bunch of fun for local kids, and this year there were face painters, bouncy houses, and a clown named Giggles.
“We had a great time,” said Pride. “Amidhas was eating franks. It was pretty cool.”
Bloomberg, with Kelly beside him, was on hand to award Officer Eric Rodriguez of the 70th Precinct with an honorary mayoral proclamation for exemplary service and a job well done.
