Smelly sheath
A gunman pulled a gun from an odd hiding spot — a sneaker he was carrying — on July 28, then opened fire on a man he had a spat with.
Police said the 26-year-old victim was nearing the corner of New York and Newkirk avenues at 4:15 pm when he began arguing with the sneaker-carrier.
That’s when the stranger pulled a surprise from his kick and opened fire, hitting his victim twice in the leg.
Police said the gunman ran off as the victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition after treatment.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

Carjacker sought
A gun-toting thug settled for a 2001 GMC Yukon when he couldn’t get any money from his victim on July 23.
The 25-year-old victim had just exited his vehicle after parking it on East 58th Street between Foster and Farragut roads at 2:12 am when the stranger pulled a gun on him, demanding his cash.
When the victim said he didn’t have any money, the thief demanded the keys to the car and drove off with it, police were told.
Van swipe
A thief looted a van parked on East 42nd Street on July 27, taking an assortment of pricey electronics.
The victim, an electrician by trade, told police that the van was parked between Avenues I and J when it was broken into sometime after 12 pm.
Executed
A man was shot in the head during a July 26 confrontation on Rogers Avenue.
Officials said the 32-year-old victim was found sprawled out on the ground between Parkside and Clarkson avenues just before 6 pm. Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.

Too much reach
A thief snaked his hand into a woman’s car on Avenue H on July 20, taking her wallet and credit cards.
The 51-year-old woman told police that she parked her car near East 58th Street at 6 pm, but left her windows open.
When she returned to her car a short time later, he bag was gone, cops were told.
Surrounded and robbed
Four thugs outmaneuvered a boy on July 22 and ran off with his cell phone.
The 16-year-old told police he was nearing the corner of Avenue H and Utica Avenue at 7:15 pm when the suspects surrounded him.
“Pass your phone over here,” one of the thugs ordered before running off with the goods.
Wipe out graffiti
As the ongoing war against graffiti continues, cops are now offering a $500 reward to anyone with information that can lead them to the vandals that mark up the community.
The hefty reward is part of the city’s new push to rid New York of graffiti, one of the leading quality of life complaints brought to police.
Anyone with information about graffiti vandalism in their neighborhood is urged to contact either 311 or 911.
