The Cyclones bats were quiet during a rare day game, and Brooklyn hurlers didn’t throw a clean inning until the final frame as the Crosscutters salvaged the final game of a three-game set.
Starter Briam Campusano got in and out of trouble in almost every inning, giving up nine hits in six frames, but left the game with the Clones trailing just 3–2.
Down by three in the fifth, Brooklyn scored its first run on a Ross Adolph triple that drove home Anthony Dirocie, who had walked. Adolph later scored on a sacrifice fly by David Miranda.
Williamsport got some insurance in the seventh off reliever Ryan Selmer, who gave up a run-scoring double to Ben Pelletier.
Manager Edgardo Alfonzo credited his starter with hanging in there, but thought his hitters didn’t put forth their best effort.
“I think the guy threw a pretty good game,” he said. “We just laid back a little bit.”
Our boys hit the road tonight, taking on the Tri-City Valleycats at 7 pm.
