The senior, who averaged nine points and six assists during the regular season, will sit out two games, along with Robeson guard Darrell Lucky, for their part in a brief altercation in No. 4 Transit Tech’s 55-34 opening-round Brooklyn borough quarterfinal victory in East New York Tuesday.
Although fifth-seeded Robeson (13-11) was eliminated from the borough playoffs, the loss of Lucky, a sophomore who was averaging 15 points per game, is just as harmful. He will miss their first two playoff games. Plus, without four key contributors, including wing Jamel Noel, for violating unspecified school rules, the Eagles chances seem dim.
The two became agitated with one another by the right sideline with 4:49 remaining in the third quarter and the Express (16-11) holding a 30-21 lead. Each shoved one another before they became entangled. It was not known if punches were thrown, although spectators in attendance said they witnessed each player do so before the fight was broken up.
As per PSAL rules, when a player is ejected, he or she must sit out two games, PSAL Boys' Basketball Commissioner Mel Goldstein said.
