Canarsie community members convened at the Abe Stark Senior Center on May 17 to pay tribute to those gals who make life worth living — their moms.
“It is a great celebratory event, which we conduct every year to say a well-deserved thank you to all the mothers,” said Nathan Williams, director of Abe Stark Senior Center on Farragut Road
More than 130 locals showed up for the eighth-annual Millennium Development sponsored “Mother’s Day Extravaganza,” which featured music, entertainment, food, gifts, and a special game of bingo to honor Canarsie’s elderly paragons of caring and compassion.
City Councilman Charles Baron and Assemblyman Alan Maisel were also in attendance, and spoke a few celebratory words for the esteemed women of the day.
