Intricately-flavored confections and desserts you wish your mother had made are just the tip of the sweet-a-licious iceberg at the new Little Buddy Biscuit Company, which celebrated its arrival in South Slope with a ribbon-cutting.
Chef Pete Solomita played happy host to the honeyed hordes, among them, Borough President Marty Markowitz and Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President Carl Hum, who helped boost the bakery, 635 5th Avenue between 17th and 18th Streets, during its grand opening, and were among the first to enjoy some of the tastebud-tingling treats.
Customers received a complimentary Mr. Bisky button and freshly-baked samples at the microbakery that specializes in premium handcrafted goods.
“We bake in small batches to ensure quality in everything we make,” said Solomita, whose menu of delectables includes cookies, brownies, cakes, cupcakes, muffins and scones, in addition to biscuits, savories and a selection of vegan goods.
The eco-friendly shop also serves artisan ice cream from Jane’s Ice Cream of Kingston, fair trade organic coffee, and teas by Equal Exchange and SerendipiTea.
Little Buddy Biscuit Company is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Thursday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
