Lost her appetite

Window mugging

A hungry diner in a Smith Street restaurant lost her appetite when a hellion snatched her purse through an open window on June 26.

The victim only saw an arm as it thrust towards her purse at 7:50 pm in Chance, which is between Baltic and Butler streets. The stolen pocketbook contained credit and debit cards, and a cellphone.

Change for worse

Cops arrested a thief who broke into a car on Strong Place and stole a measly $10.25 in loose change on June 19.

Witnesses saw the 44-year-old crook break into the car, which had been left between Kane and Degraw streets at 10:45 am. They flagged down officers, who apprehended the intruder near the scene of the crime.

Dawn of trouble

A mugger robbed an early riser on Second Place on June 27.

The victim, 59, told police an attacker grabbed him from behind and stole his wallet from his pants pocket near the corner of Clinton Street at 6 am. The wallet contained $500, a Metrocard, and several forms of ID.

Sili-gone Alley

Burglars raided a Centre Street business overnight on June 15, depriving the office of vital computer equipment and its nicotine fix.

The office was empty between Smith and Court streets from 6 pm and 7:30 am, when an arriving employee found that the front door’s deadbolt was unlocked and the inside was a horror scene: four computers, a hard drive, five cartons of cigarettes, a Cartier lighter, and several cellphones were gone.

The cigarettes might have been the most-expensive item taken.
