Car binge
Beware the ides of October! There was a spate of car thefts on Oct 15 as numerous auto owners came back to their parking spots to find an unpleasant October surprise. Here’s a round-up:
• Someone stole a gray Chrysler 300 from 11th Street early on Oct. 15. The owner found his car was gone when he returned to his parking spot near Prospect Park at 5:20 am.
• A thief, possibly in search of something a little more spacious, stole a white Dodge minivan that was parked on 10th Street between Third and Fourth avenues. The owner discovered her car missing at 3 pm.
• A crook with a taste for imports drove off with a black Volkswagen Passat around 7 pm. The car had been parked on St. Johns Place between Seventh and Eighth avenues and the owner was only gone for a half-hour.
Shot him anyway
A gun-wielding, trigger-happy and angry crook held up a man on Warren Street at 9 pm on Oct 16.
As the victim was walking between Third and Fourth avenues, the thief came up to him and, displaying a black handgun, threatened to kill him if he didn’t hand over his money and jewelry.
The victim forked over $2,850 of jewelry, but the perp nonetheless fired at least one shot at him before running away. Luckily, the victim was not hit.
