Street shooting
Some lowlife shot a woman walking down Mermaid Avenue on April 21 — sending her to the hospital in critical condition, according to a police report.
The woman told police she was near W. 33rd Street around 7:30 pm when she heard shots from behind her, and then a bullet hit her in the right cheek. The unknown shooter disappeared and she was rushed her to the hospital.
Police later found evidence of multiple shots fired in the area.
Elevator ambush
A trio of armed bandits ambushed a guy up coming out of the elevator in a Neptune Avenue apartment building on April 18 and stole his cellphone, police said.
The guy stepped out of the elevator of the building between Ocean Parkway and W. Fifth Street to find the three ne’er-do-wells flashing a handgun in his face, police reported. They beat him up, leaving him with a bloody mouth and a black eye, then grabbed his phone and fled, police said.
Booked
Cops cuffed two teens who they say robbed a woman on Brighton Fourth Street on April 22.
The woman was near Brightwater Court around 8:30 pm when the pair pulled up to her. They pushed her to the ground and took her backpack, but did not get far before police caught up with them and took them in, according to a police report.
Sunday purse snatch
A rotten thief snatched a 77-year-old woman’s purse while she sat on a bench on Ocean Parkway on April 24, police said.
The woman was enjoying the beautiful Sunday weather around 1 pm on a bench near Ocean View Avenue when the cad struck. He ran up, grabbed her wallet from under her arm, and fled on Ocean View Avenue towards Brighton First Street, she told police.
Package pilferer
A sneak stole four boxes right out of a United Postal Service truck parked on Brighton First Street on April 19.
The delivery driver parked the truck near Brightwater Court just before 11 am and left the back door open to drop off some packages. The thief — who the driver said he knows — climbed in and took the boxes while the driver was making his deliveries, police reported.
