Gary Sinise’s Lt. Dan Band is deploying to Brooklyn for another tour.
The award-winning actor — who famously starred as a disabled Vietnam vet in “Forrest Gump” — part-time rocker, and globe-trotting humanitarian announced that his band will return to the borough for the first time since 2007 to play a benefit concert for Bryan Dilberian, a Brooklyn-born veteran who lost both of his legs and left arm in a bomb blast while serving in Afghanistan.
The “CSI NY” star plugged the upcoming show alongside firefighters at MCU Park’s Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance, which is dedicated to the victims of 9-11. Sinise’s band played a concert at Brooklyn College five years ago to raise money to help pay for the wall.
“We’re not going to forget the sacrifices that you and your families make for this nation,” Sinise told U.S. troops at a Washington fundraiser. “You are our volunteers and we never take that for granted.”
Since winning an Oscar nomination for his star turn in the Tom Hanks classic that follows a man through several decades, Sinise’s band has traveled the world entertaining soldiers, and has raised millions for military-related charities.
The band, with special guests Danny Rodriguez and Lobaido, will take the stage at Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts next month. Proceeds from the show, which is sponsored by the Gary Sinise Foundation and the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, will help fund a $300,000 “smart” home for Dilberian, who was injured on a routine patrol in 2011.
