MADE IN BROOKLYN

This month, BAMcinematek presents an "It
Happened in Brooklyn!" film series, with three movies set
in the borough – "It Happened in Flatbush" (April 10),
"It Happened in Brooklyn" (April 17) and "The
French Connection" (April 24) – with commentary by Brooklyn
Papers alum and borough historian John Manbeck.

William Friedkin’s film, "The French Connection" (pictured),
is included for its celebrated footage of a car chasing an elevated
train along 86th Street and New Utrecht Avenue in Bensonhurst.
This movie, which stars Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider, will unspool
at 4:30 pm, 6:50 pm and 9:30 pm, with a Q&A with authors
Manbeck ("The Brooklyn Film") and Pete Hamill ("A
Drinking Life") following the 6:50 pm screening.

Tickets to the "It Happened in Brooklyn!" films are
$10; BAMcinematek is located at 30 Lafayette Ave., at Ashland
Place, in Fort Greene. For information, call (718) 636-4100 or
