The Madison-Marine-Homecrest Civic Association is collecting donations of non-perishable foods for distribution to needy members of the community in time for Thanksgiving.
Now through November 19, decorated collection boxes are located at several neighborhood stores, including Michael’s Bakery, Pronto Pizza and Jo Mart Chocolates all on Avenue R near Nostrand Avenue; Tom’s Cleaners on Avenue S near Nostrand, and G & S Pork Store on Avenue U near East 26th Street.
Items, includingchecks payable to Madison-Marine Civic Association, to purchase turkeys, also may be left at the King’s Chapel, Quentin Road and East 27th Street, on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., or brought to the civic association’snext meeting, November 19,when food will be sorted.
The meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. at Kings Chapel (formerly, the Kings Highway Reformed Church), Quentin Road and East 27th Street (in the basement).
