The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions during overnight hours on most weekdays for the next four weeks for upgrade work.

During the closures, all traffic will be detoured to the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge, including the Q35 bus.

The closures are necessary for upgrade work on the lift mechanism, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The closures will happen on the following dates and times:

• 11:00 pm–5 am Tuesday, Sept. 11, through Friday, Sept. 14

• 11:00 pm–5 am Monday, Sept. 17, through Tuesday, Sept. 18

• 11:00 pm–5 am Wednesday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Sept. 21

• 11:00 pm–5 am Monday, Sept. 24, through Friday, Sept. 28

Signs will be in place advising motorists of the closure and detour coming off the bridge, the transportation authority said in a statement.
