The Bay Ridge Interfaith Peace Coalition will hold a Hiroshima Day Commemoration, August 1.
The group will assemble at 1:30 p.m. on Fourth Avenue between 96th Street and 97th streets for a prayer, then silently walk to Shore Road and Fourth Avenue, one block past 101st Street, to the sidewalk in front of Cannonball Park.
There will be a one hour silent vigil, in which hand out peace cranes (the symbol of anti−nuclear protest), and literature on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, which will be before the United States Senate for ratification this year, will be distributed.
The group will carry one banner only, reading “Abolish Nuclear Weapons” and they will dress in black or solemn clothing. They will be distributing literature on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty only.
All are welcome to attend this solemn commemoration and silent anti−nuclear protest.
