Choreographer Mark Morris’ critically
acclaimed dance "L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato"
will be performed March 22-24 at 7:30 pm and March 25 at 3 pm
at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
This weekend of performances, which marks
both the 20th anniversary of the Mark Morris Dance Group and
the 100th performance of the work (March 24) which made its New
York premiere at BAM in 1990, incorporates the art of John Milton,
George Frederick Handel and William Blake. The dance is set to
a musical oratorio of the same name composed by Handel in 1740.
Morris’ work showcases 24 dancers, four vocal soloists, a full
chorus and orchestra and a lush set designed by Adrienne Lobel.
Tickets to the dance performances at BAM,
30 Lafayette Ave., are $20, $35 and $50. For tickets and information
call (718) 636-4100 or visit www.bam.org.
