Mill Basin day camp kids mark the end of a special summer in Brooklyn

Kids enrolled in the Mill Basin Day Camp traded in their play clothes for elaborate gowns, party duds and carnival masks as they participated in the camp’s annual black tie gala, highlighting the end of another successful summer.

“[The camp] is always wonderful, but this was the best year ever,” reflected camp owner Jack Grosbard at the El Caribe Country Club on Strickland Avenue as he watched kids walk into the ballroom. “There’s a lot of tears at the end, but everyone had a great time.”

After a scrumptious dinner, children spent the night palling around and learning the latest dance moves from their instructors, many of whom were former campers themselves.

Last week’s black tie gala culminated another successful Mill Basin Day Camp Summer Program, which, since its inception in 1998, continues to bring smiles.

Their success can be reflected in the fact that the Mill Basin Day Camp has grown to be one of the largest summer camps in the borough.

The camp’s state-of-the-art facility offers a wide range of activities for children entering Pre-K thru 9th grade.

Each camp program has its own unique and innovative curriculum that best suits the needs of the varying ages of the campers.

This year’s program included a new computer graphics room, a game show program and a Karaoke room where children were given the chance to become the next Mill Basin Idol.

The children also took part in a special carnival day filled with thrilling rides and games.

Now that school has started, the Mill Basin Day Camp wasted no time in opening up their after-school program.

Anyone wishing to join in the fun next year or learn more about the after-school program can contact the camp at (718) 251-6200.
