Someone broke into a popular President Street restaurant overnight on Jan. 31, but took a laptop, not food.
The 37-year-old owner of the eatery, between Fourth and Fifth avenues, told cops he closed up the building at around 8:30 pm. When he returned the next morning at around 10 am, he noticed a $3,000 laptop had been taken from inside.
Car gone
Someone stole a car off of President Street after the owner left it unattended for five days.
The 37-year-old victim told cops she left her vehicle between Fourth and Fifth avenues at around 11 am on Jan. 25. When she returned to get the car at around 10:30 am five days later, the 2001 purple Honda was nowhere in sight.
Turn it off!
Someone stole an idling car from in front of a Seventh Avenue grocery store on Jan. 31.
The victim said he pulled up to the store, between Eighth and Ninth streets, at around 7:50 pm and went inside, leaving the car keys in the ignition and the engine running. He came out of the building 20 minutes later, but by then, someone had hopped into the vehicle and sped off.
Desk snatch
A sneaky thief stole a woman’s wallet from her desk inside of a Seventh Avenue office building on Jan. 22.
The 38-year-old victim told cops she entered the building, which is between Fifth and Sixth streets, at around 9 am and placed her purse on her desk. About seven hours later, when she collected her things before leaving work, she noticed that her wallet was no longer inside her bag.
The thief made off with various debit and credit cards.
