Historic Floyd Bennett Field was the launching pad for motorcycling patriots and their families from across the metropolitan area, who put the pedal to the metal for American war heroes %u2013 past and present – during a pomp-filled commemorative bike ride to Manhattan.
Accompanied by a police escort, members of the Highlanders Motorcycle Club burned rubber from the Brooklyn airfield to the Veterans Memorial Wall at 65 Water Street, as part of the memorial salute to national servicemembers.
“Not enough is being done to thank these women and men, who have made and continue to make, the sacrifices that they make so that we can live in this wonderful country,” said spokesman Robert Colon.
