To The Editor:
After reading stories week after week about Harriett Rosenberg’s not being re-upped at CB10, I feel like it is time for me to add my two cents to this story.
I don’t know Harriett, and I wish I did, but from what all her friends say, she is a wonderful woman.
That being said, I wish for one moment you can look at another side of this.
I have a friend. She would be a wonderful addition to the board. She is smart, owns her own business (a very successful one, I might add) and for years has been trying to get on CB 10’s board.
If people stay on the board, as Harriett has for 25 years, what chance will others have? None, absolutely none. They won’t have any chance, ever.
New ideas and strategies are the mainstay of our way of life.
Instead of taking Councilman Gentile’s action as a slap or as something connected to age, maybe it would be helpful if Harriett would volunteer herself to help and bring up to speed the person who is in her chair. You cannot replace 25 years of experience. But we must give others a chance.
I’m sure, as is Marty Golden – that Harriett will find another volunteer position or even a paying position that she will enhance with her skills and her life’s experiences.
In cases like these, where Councilman Gentile wants the best CB he can possibly have, he has to make decisions that will not always be welcomed with open arms.
As Paul Harvey might say, “And you know there is another side to the story.”
