Forget Paris and London, Brooklyn is where the cutting edge fashion designers are flocking to – especially if they want to look at art while they shop.
Fashionistas on the prowl for that inimitable dress, that nonpareil bag and those to−die−for designer shoes need look no further than Park Slope’s latest apparel and community art jewel, ANGG New York, 325 7th Street, off 5th Avenue, where Parsons School of Design graduate Angela Gao enjoyed the fruits of her labors as she celebrated the grand opening of her whimsical and elegant new shop – complete with free cheesecake baked by Gao, herself, a sweet serenade by sales executive Niki Notarile and a guest appearance by Gao’s father Xian Gao, a martial artist, kungfu movie star and teacher who has headlined in more than 30 movies, and trained the stars of the acclaimed film, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.”
More than just a fancy clothing store, ANGG New York features an art gallery of vibrant works by local artists and photographers, in addition to “bringing the community together” for special, family−oriented events, such as workshops and live performances.
Merchandise ranges from $3 to $300, and store hours are: Monday through Saturday, noon−8 p.m.; and Sunday, noon−5 p.m.
