New eatery is a team ‘Playa’

Drinks at the Cabana, then seafood on la Playa.

It may sound like a sultry evening in Cabo, but it actually means that fans of the south-of-the-border beach lifestyle can get their kicks right here in Park Slope.

Restaurateur Spencer Rothschild opened the third wheel of his Latin food troika, Playa, at the corner of Fifth Avenue and President Street on Nov. 20. The seaside-inspired eatery follows the high-end Barrio on Seventh Avenue and Third Street, and Cabana Bar on President Street, which opened last month.

“We want to create a pan-Latin beach resort feeling,” said Rothschild. “People will be able to get drinks at Cabana Bar, and then go over to Playa for seafood.”

To ring in the holidays, Rothschild is offering a 15-percent discount on all food items until Christmas Eve.

The previous restaurant at the corner of Fifth and President, Lookout Hill Smokehouse, closed after less than a year in business.
