Moms and dads wishing to speak with their child’s teacher at Intermediate School 228 can now seek an appointment at the parent engagement center.
Students, staffers and parents launched one of the borough’s first such facilities at David A. Boody School for Magnet Studies, 228 Avenue S, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by school and community officials.
Newly-refurbished, the 500-square-foot center is situated on the first floor, adjacent to the main entrance, and features a waiting room, a private conference room, coffee service and other amenities.
“Our vision is to provide a comfortable and professional center where the parents of our students will feel more welcomed, respected and supported,” said Principal Dominick A. D’Angelo of the initiative by the Department of Education’s Office for Family Engagement and Advocacy.
Also in attendance was Lee Boody, great grandson of the school’s namesake, David Augustus Boody [1837-1930], a US congressman from New York, who served as mayor of Brooklyn and president of the board of trustees of the Brooklyn Public Library.
