Aberdeen 7
Cyclones 5
June 26 at Aberdeen
The Aberdeen IronBirds used a five-run explosion in the fifth inning to take the lead for good, earning the team’s third straight win over the Cyclones.
Brooklyn started the game strong, jumping out to a 5–1 lead through the first three innings. Shortstop Gavin Cecchini scored in the first off an RBI double by first baseman Matt “Bright Eyes” Oberste. Outfielder Jorge Rivero added a run on an Aberdeen fielding error. Cecchini then hit an RBI single of his own in the second and second baseman Juan Carlos Gamboa hit a two-run double in the third.
After the early Cyclones’ barrage, the IronBirds used a two-run single by first baseman Trey Mancini and a three-run double by outfielder Anthony Vega in the fifth to take the sudden 6–5 lead. Aberdeen added another run in the eighth when Vega scored on a Cecchini error.
The Cyclones head to Hudson Valley tonight to try to end a three-game skid.
