New York Congregational Nursing Center (NYCNC) honored 37 exceptional Summer Volunteers with a celebration to acknowledge their work and service to the residents and staff at the Facility.
The volunteer program at NYCNC, 135 Linden Boulevard, emphasized real-world labor expectations, increased awareness of services offered by local community-based organizations and provided opportunities for career instruction, financial literacy training, academic improvement, and social growth. The program offered opportunities to shape the futures of the young participants while helping others.
On any day volunteers could be observed transporting a resident to therapy, decorating for a barbecue, watering the plants on the campus or tending to the cats, dogs and birds at the facility. Residents looked forward to their daily patio visits with their volunteers. There was a connection of sharing, caring and love.
Celia Zuckerman, president and CEO commented, “I know I am looking at another president, CEO, or director in this group. You have made all of us proud. Thank you for spending your summer with us. Go forth and let your experience dictate your future.”
