Aberdeen scored two runs each in the sixth, eighth and ninth innings and silenced the Cyclones’ bats to dismantle Brooklyn and retake the division lead.
Tanner Rust opened up the scoring by hitting a solo home run in the second inning and the game remained close until the sixth, when RBI singles by Austin Wynns and Jared Breen put the IronBirds in autopilot.
Aberdeen added four more runs in the final two innings, including two more RBIs from Wynns and Breen. The Aberdeen pitching struck out eight Cyclone batters in the win and allowed only one Brooklyn player to advance to third base, which came in the bottom of the ninth.
The Cyclones lost the division lead, but will look to retake it when the two teams play tonight at 5 pm for the final home game of the 2013 season.
