Pint−sized performers at Public School 272 were also scene−stealers when they took to the stage for a homespun rendition of the Broadway charmer, “Annie, Jr.”

The school−wide musical production⁄fashion show extravaganza billed, “Annie is Capturing Kids’ Hearts,” staged an abbreviated version of the original play with accompaniment by the school band, transforming the auditorium of the school, East 101st Street and Seaview Avenue, into a show hall.

Based on the popular Harold Gray comic strip, “Little Orphan Annie,” the musical ran for nearly six years on Broadway, spawned numerous productions in many countries, as well as national tours, and won the Tony Award for Best Musical.
