Pet lovers ask church to bless fido

Some of the “parishioners” had four legs and their howls, yelps and chirps could be heard from blocks away as the annual blessing of the animals got underway at St. Anselm Church in Bay Ridge.

The courtyard of the house of worship, 356 82nd Street, was transformed into an outdoor altar as Rev. Martin Kull led the benediction in honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, who is the patron saint of animals.

Brooklyn pet owners brought along their cherished dogs, cats, birds and other furry loved ones for the hailed blessing.
