Police: Alleged rapist called cops himself

Police arrested a registered sex offender who allegedly raped a woman in Bushwick on Tuesday morning after he called the cops himself and asked for a ride, according to authorities.

The 27 year-old victim told police she was walking home near Dekalb and Bushwick avenues at 2:30 am when the 52-year-old Bedford-Stuyvesant resident allegedly approached her, pulled out a knife, demanded some of her property — a phone and $5, according to a Daily News report — and then raped her, police said.

The guy later called 911 making “irrational statements,” and when officers arrived, he asked them for a lift, according to authorities. But the cops recognized his clothes from the victims’ description and slapped cuffs on him, according to authorities.

The suspect is a high-risk sex offender who has repeatedly failed to check in with authorities to register his address, and police charged for that in addition to rape, robbery, and criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.
