Stealing protection
Police arrested a man who they say robbed a cellphone store on Flatbush Avenue on June 24 — and tried to assault a man who attempted to stop him.
The victim, a uniformed emergency services worker, said he was at the store near Avenue K at 4:20 pm when he saw the suspect walk behind the counter to take five cellphone protectors and put them in his shirt before attempting to leave. When the victim approached the suspect, the alleged robber punched him in the back, then used an antenna to attempt to stab the victim — threatened to cause more injury to him.
In addition to robbery and attempted assault charges, the suspect also faces two counts of menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
Better late than never
A robbery suspect was finally brought to justice this week, almost five years after a burglary on Avenue T.
The victim found the front door forced open and the lock damaged, resulting in her computer, jewelry and currency missing from her residence between Ryder and Kimball streets at 6:45 pm back on Sept. 17, 2008.
Fingerprints were recovered from a jewelry box and matched those of the suspect, resulting in his arrest.
The man faces grand larceny and trespassing charges
Temper, temper
Police arrested a man who they say threatened to shoot another man and woman on E. 57th Street on June 22.
The victims were between Avenues H and I at 1:40 am when the suspect engaged in a verbal argument with the two, and threatened them with a gesture toward what appeared to be a gun on his hip.
The man is charged with menacing and harassment in the second degrees.
