Prayers and tall salute to United States veterans

The courage of the valiant ones was recalled during a memorial mass presented by Michael A. Rawley Post 1636 of the American Legion.

The annual salute drew area veterans and other community members to the rear yard of the post, 193 9th Street, where they observed a program of rites in memory of deceased members and those who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

Following the Field Mass, a short ceremony by the monument flag-pole honored soldiers of the Maryland (400) battalion, who died during the battle of Brooklyn and were buried in the Park Slope area.
