These local heroes don’t have superpowers — but they can hold up a bus with one hand!

Park Slope parents honored crossing guards from across the nabe for their valiant efforts in getting kids to school safely with an event on Tuesday — the least they can do to give back to the shepherds who are there for their youngsters in rain or shine, organizers said.

“It’s a great way to give back to the crossing guards who do so much for us every single day,” said Susan Fox, who is the founder of popular blog Park Slope Parents. “Whether it’s rain or freezing or wind they are out there to help us get our kids to and from school.”

Fox created Crossing Guard Appreciation Day three years ago as a way to show the guards that they matter to the community.

The guards and their admirers gathered at the 78th Precinct, where parents, Councilman Brad Lander (D–Cobble Hill), and commanding officer Capt. Frank DiGiacomo sang their praises, awarded them certificates, and read out messages of gratitude from locals.

“She is really upbeat, knows all of the kids names, says ‘hi,’ and if they’re crying or in a mad mood, she’ll come over and talk to them and cheer them up,” read a message from one thankful parent of a local guard.

“She is so kind and sweet and always has a smile on her face — rain or shine!” said another.

Fox said the guards were thrilled that the community recognizes their work out in the unforgiving elements — and parents were just as happy to show their support.

“This is a to say, ‘Hey, we know you’re trying to do your job as well as possible,’ ” she said.
