Foot Fetish, a Bay Ridge
shoe boutique, treated 45 customers to three fashion shows April
22, emceed by Jason Persico, during dinner at Henry Grattan’s
Restaurant on Third Avenue.
In addition to carrying boots, (1) Guess "Heartbeat"
pumps ($95), slingbacks, flip flops and more, owners Deborah
Batanjany and Maureen Brody are now stocking an array of accessories.
At Foot Fetish [8813 Third Ave., (718) 768-5400], shoppers will
find these items, modeled here by the store’s friends and customers:
(3) Gucci sunglasses ($210); Sandra Roberts metallic gold
clutch ($39); and Ann Marino "Primrose" slingbacks
($58).
Fast forward to summer with a (2) Scala Collection straw
hat ($38); Straw Studio beach bag ($38); Arleen C. "Jewelry"
flip flops encrusted with crystals ($95); and Bay Ridge designer
Kerri Renae’s versatile "High Tide" bikini bottoms
and sashes that can be worn with pants or as a bathing suit!
A trip to the beach wouldn’t be complete without (4) a
large (3-feet by 6-feet) roll up towel and beach bag ($45) and
bucket hat ($34) by Hat Attack. Ugg-lookalike boots by Arleen
C. are an affordable alternative at $179.
Although they stocked up on halters, designer sunglasses, bags,
hats, ponchos and shawls, the owners dropped some shoe lines
and added others, Batanjany told GO Brooklyn.
"We cancelled a lot of lines because of the Euro-dollar,"
she said. "The wholesale prices of European shoes are ridiculous
now. If we brought them into the store and charged $300, people
would laugh at us."
Instead, the partners looked for other brands that are splashed
across magazine pages, without the steep price tags, she said.
But if budget constraints don’t allow a whole new wardrobe of
accessories, Batanjany said these spring-summer essentials are
enough: "Definitely a pink pair of shoes, sunglasses with
black plastic designer frames, and definitely some type of metallic
or jelly clutch or bag. If you have those three, you can mix
and match and look great."
