Quit smoking and be a winner at LIU

“Quit and Win,” a free program of the Harriet Rothkopf Heilbrunn B’32 Academic Nursing Center at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus, DeKalb and Flatbush avenues in downtown Brooklyn, will prepare those who want to quit smoking, on November 19, the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout Day.

Those who are in the “Quit and Win” program will gather, November 19, in front of LIU’s Luntey Commons in the Metcalfe Building to cheer each other on and exchange stories of quit day.

After quitting, participant will get ready to be eligible to win. They must check in every week at the Academic Nursing Center, where a special meter can indicate whether the carbon-monoxide level in your system is below that of a smoker.

A drawing for prizes of $100, $150 and $250 will take place December 16 for those who have kept smoke-free for the month.

At the Academic Nursing Center, options for support include group activities, individual coaching and nicotine replacement therapy (free and available if the participant is medically eligible).
