The Cyclones moved into sole possession of first place in the McNamara Division thanks to Mother Nature — and the fact that the hated Staten Island Yankees blew a four-run lead in the ninth and fell in the 10th to the Tri-City Wildcats.

The Baby Bombers, who were tied with the Clones for first with a 5–3 record, were at times up 6–1 and 10–4, and eventually blew a 10–6 lead in the ninth before as Cyclones’ presumably watched the game in the clubhouse of rainy MCU Park, where yesterday’s rain drowned out the game with the Connecticut Tigers.

The loss and postponement put the Cyclones a half-game ahead of the cross-Narrows rivals.

The Cyclones game will be made up when the team visit the Tigers in early September.

Fans waited for an hour before the game was officially postponed. The postgame fireworks were cancelled as well.

The four game set from September 2–4 are the final road games of the season for Brooklyn.

Tom Gamboa’s squad heads to Falcon Park in Auburn, NY — located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region — on Sunday to take on the Doubledays at 5:05 pm. We recommend the players of age taste some of the delectable Rieslings that the area produces.
