Red light, green light 1…2…3

Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein joined students from the Christian Heritage Academy, Steven Yamin, president of Nieuw Amersfort Community Association and community residents in celebrating the installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Avenue J and East 42nd Street.

The traffic light was approved by the Department of Transportation (DOT) through the efforts of the Weinstein and local community residents.

“I am pleased that working with the community we have been able to secure a traffic signal to improve the safety of pedestrians, motorists and students attending Christian Heritage Academy,” said Weinstein.

In thanking Weinstein, Reverend Albert C. Delmadge, bishop and overseer of the Christian Heritage Ministries said, “Please accept our thanks for your effort and recommendations for the newly installed traffic light at the corner of East 42nd Street and Avenue J. It has significantly added to the control of traffic flow in our neighborhood. Our school uses this corner extensively and we are most pleased at the orderliness and safety it is contributing to the use of this intersection.”
