Brooklyn moviegoers can now feel every splash, shake and scream without leaving their borough.

Regal UA Sheepshead Bay opened Brooklyn’s first 4DX auditorium on Aug. 29, beginning with Steven Spielberg’s “Jaws: 50th Anniversary.”

The state-of-the-art 4DX auditorium provides what Regal calls “a multi-sensory cinema experience that connects audiences to movies through motion, vibration, water, wind, scents and other atmospheric effects to enhance the on-screen visuals.” For Brooklyn film fans, it means access to the cutting-edge and immersive presentation previously limited to Manhattan and Queens.

Following “Jaws,” the theatre will show upcoming 4DX titles like “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle,” “HIM,” “One Battle After Another” and “Tron: Ares.” Tickets for premium 4DX showings are $24.99 on the Regmovies.com website, with Regal Unlimited subscribers eligible for a small upcharge.

Located on Shore Parkway, the Sheepshead Bay theatre has long been a centerpiece of the neighborhood’s entertainment scene. It originally opened in 1987 under United Artists Theatre as “The Movies at Sheepshead Bay.” In 2002, it underwent an expansion from 10 to 14 screens.

In 2025, the location saw major renovations, replacing traditional rocker seating with recliners and a more modern interior, consistently evolving to accommodate families and residents in southern Brooklyn.

In addition to 4DX, the theatre also offers IMAX, ScreenX and RPX (Regal Premium Experience) screenings.
