Renegades running wild on the Cyclones

Editor’s note: The Brooklyn Paper’s esteemed editor in chief Vince DiMiceli, who usually edits the world’s best Cyclones coverage, is on vacation, and deputy editor Nathan Tempey knows only slightly more than nothing about America’s pastime. Sure, he can tell a home run when he sees one, but mention a passed ball or a can of corn to him and you’ll get a blank stare. So bear with us as we weather this trying time, and let Tempey know what he is getting wrong in the comments.

Hudson Valley 8

Cyclones 6

July 1 at Hudson Valley

The Cyclones dropped their third straight against the Renegades in a roller coaster of a game.

Hudson Valley surged ahead early in the first inning when a home run by Bralin Jackson scored Casey Gillaspie and gave the team the 2–0 lead.

The Mini-Mets responded their next at-bat when Jeff Diehl hit his first homer of the season to score Michael Katz and Tyler Moore, who both reached on singles to start off the inning. Their lead would be short-lived as the Renegade tacked on three more goals in the third to end starting pitcher Alberto Baldonando’s night. In his last two starts, Baldonado has pitched just five and two-thirds innings and has given up 11 runs.

The Clones didn’t go down without a fight, scoring again in the fifth to make it 7–6, but the Renegades ultimately prevailed.

Join the Cyclones as they return home tonight to face the Renegades during Zombie Night at MCU Park. The game starts at 7 pm.
