Risked it all — for a sandwich

Employee of month

A valiant sandwich maker risked life and limb in a failed attempt to prevent a gunman from robbing a Subway shop on Flatbush Avenue on April 7.

At 8:15 am, a bandit burst into the store near the corner of Fulton Street and pointed a gun directly at the clerk, 41. The armed man went behind the counter and demanded the employee open the register. But when the worker refused, the hoodlum shoved him out of the way and stole about $300 from the till and another $400 from a cash box beneath the counter.

The daring worker then tried to restrain the robber and prevent him from fleeing, but the scoundrel bashed the man in the face, either with a fist or the gun, and escaped. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital for treatment.

Space case

A lead-footed thief stole a Mercedes Benz right out of an Ashland Place parking lot where the owner has a monthly parking space.

A witness spotted a man hopping into 2007 ML350 luxury ride and driving away from the Discount Parking lot, between DeKalb Avenue and Fulton Street, at 8:30 am on April 1.

The nighttime attendant said the thief must have gotten possession of the keys to the fancy wheels.

Mystery shots

A man hanging in a South Oxford Street park told police that a stranger brandishing a gun accidentally fired a round and shot him in the hand on April 5.

The victim, 21, said he was hanging out with a friend between Gates and Lafayette avenues at 4:40 pm when he was shot. The victim provided no description of the shooter to police and took a cab to Brooklyn Hospital for treatment.

Casanova

After harassing a woman with catcalls, an armed man mugged her on the corner of Greene and Washington avenues on April 3, cops say.

The victim, 27, said she ignored the chauvinistic remarks, but couldn’t disregard the pistol that the man pressed against her ribs at 11:20 pm. She surrendered $20 to the mugger, who ended the ordeal by asking, “Are you going to tell me your name now?”

The victim, incredulous, did not answer.

Home burglar

An intruder broke into a South Oxford Street apartment on April 4 and pilfered some high-tech gadgets.

The resident, a 46-year-old man, told police that he was not in his home, which is between DeKalb and Lafayette avenues, from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm. When he returned, he found his front door damaged and discovered that someone had stolen his computer, video camera and digital camera.
