Everyone needs a little pampering now and then. If you haven’t been treating yourself well, what are you waiting for?
Enjoy a day at the spa, a new hairstyle, or both at Salon Da Noi (8214 Fifth Avenue, 718-491-3000).
The salon’s founder, Olympia Colandrea, has created a beautiful oasis where patrons can come to escape the hustle and bustle of life. Olympia says that her passion has always been fashion, the world of beauty, and its innovative hairstyles. That’s why she created her salon, envisioning a retreat, “where artistry that flourishes and intelligent designs fuse into one.”
The goal is to provide a warm and vibrant environment, “where the beauty that is hidden within everyone can be revealed to the world,” she says.
Salon Da Noi celebrated its first anniversary on April 25, 2008. To note this special occasion, they expanded, introducing a brand new spa to the salon. It means that patrons can come here for a variety of services, all designed to provide comfort, solace, and beauty. Those who want to enjoy several services can do so and save money. When customers combine any two services — for example, a haircut with a spa treatment, or a facial and a massage — they receive 10% off the combined package, says Angela, the shop’s manager.
Some of the wonderful hair services include highlights, up-dos, down-dos, perms, relaxers, Japanese straightening, extensions, coloring, and conditioning treatments. Hair cuts are available for women, men, and children. There are special services for brides and bridal parties.
For those with dry hair, Angela recommends the Gold Well de-conditioning treatment. “I’ve seen it do wonders for people’s hair,” she says. It conditions and moisturizes hair, “bringing it back to life,” and it usually “lasts about a month or so.”
Spa treatments include massages, facials, body scrubs, and so much more. While spas and spa treatments were once thought of as, “fluff,” says Angela, today’s more holistic approach considers spa treatments a way of healing. “When you’re not under stress, you can function better,” she says. “In this day and age, you need to take time for yourself.”
Many experts agree with her assessment. For example, a facial nourishes the skin. It keeps it hydrated, so skin is healthy and clear.
Massages also promote wellness. Just about everyone who has had a massage leaves feeling relaxed and calm. Those who may have been suffering from tension aches and pains, may experience pain relief after a massage. Some studies suggest that people feel increased energy and this results in greater productivity.
A massage also allows toxins to be released from your body. This is why it is often recommended that you drink water after a massage, as water will assist in removing these toxins.
To complement the new, relaxed you and your great new hairstyle, consider a session with one of the make-up artists at Salon Da Noi. Olympia says, the experts who work here are “renowned in the fashion industry,” so they are able to provides customers with professional know-how.
All of the services provided by Salon Da Noi are offered in an atmosphere that, “transports you into a different world,” says Angela. It resembles, “a villa in Tuscany.”
In fact, when the weather is nice, clients can enjoy cappuccino in the garden. But there are no rainy days at Salon Da Noi, because no matter what the weather, patrons are invited to relax and let the “wonderful staff cater to your every need,” says Olympia.
The name, “da noi,” means “from us,” says Angela. “It means you are welcome into our home; into our world.”
