The investigation continues into a wild Brooklyn carjacking attempt on Tuesday night that ended with gunshots and a collision that left a pedestrian injured, police reported.

According to police sources, the chaos unfolded at around 7:30 p.m. on May 7 outside of 420 Kent Ave. in Williamsburg, when a gunman apparently attempted to rob a driver of a Lamborghini in the ritzy Brooklyn neighborhood.

The driver apparently put the pedal to the metal in an attempt to zoom away, prompting the robber to squeeze off several shots.

“I heard the gunshots from my rooftop, I was showing my parents around who are visiting,” a nearby resident said. “I thought it was firecrackers.”

During the chaos, law enforcement sources said, the Lamborghini driver apparently lost control and swerved into a nearby pedestrian. The 20-year-old man was left injured and covered in blood, leading local residents and responding officers from the 90th Precinct to initially believe that had been shot.

“I was getting ready to move my car, I heard the gunshots. I saw the man lying on the side of the car,” an eyewitness recounted.

But an investigation concluded that the victim had actually suffered numerous lacerations after being struck by the out-of-control Lamborghini.

EMS rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he is expected to survive. The driver, meanwhile, is not expected to face any charges.

Upon further investigation police confirmed that the victim had not suffered any gunshot wounds but instead endured severe lacerations agate being mowed into by the vehicle. Photo by Lloyd Mitchell
