A severed hand was found floating in Coney Island Creek on Jan. 4.
A bird watcher peeping at fowl in Calvert Vaux Park at 4:40 am spotted the dis-embodied duke floating in the creek, police said. Officers fished the fist from the water and brought it to the medical examiner for a closer look, law enforcement sources said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Bashed for bike
Two guys got into a fight on the corner of Stillwell and Benson avenues in Gravesend on Dec. 30 — when one tried to steal a bicycle from the other.
The aggressor confronted the 19-year-old victim at 1:14 pm and demanded the bicycle, police said. The victim told him to get lost, and a shoving match ensued, police said. A witness tried to help, and the attacker fled, a police report states.
Teen catches bullet
Someone shot an 18-year-old in the hip in a Surf Avenue liquor store on Jan. 3.
The teen caught the bullet at 11:38 pm in a store between W. 29th and W. 30th streets in Coney Island. The victim was not likely to succumb to his wounds and paramedics took him to Lutheran Medical Center, a police report states.
The investigation is ongoing, but police believe the victim was not involved in any crime, a police source said.
Home invasion
Two punks pushed their way into a W. 24th Street apartment and robbed the resident at gunpoint on Dec. 30.
The brutes busted into the residence between Surf and Mermaid avenues in Coney Island at 5:30 pm, punched the inhabitant, and waved a silver handgun at him, police said. The robbers made off with unspecified goods, a police report states.
Hungry burglar
Someone broke into a W. 27th Street apartment on Jan. 1 and stole groceries.
The victim told police that a burglar broke the lock on the door to her apartment between Surf and Mermaid avenues in Coney Island at 2 pm and took chips, eggs, orange juice, and a gallon of milk — valued at an estimated total of $7.50, a police report states.
Car stolen at mechanic
A thief took a woman’s car from a mechanic’s Avenue Y parking lot on Dec. 3.
The victim brought her Gray 2000 Dodge Durango to the shop between Shell Road and W. Third Street in Sheepshead Bay at noon, according to a police report. The mechanic called her on Christmas Day to say the car — valued at $400 — was missing, police said.
