Joie de vivre was at every turn as Smith Street – from Bergen to Union streets – was “curated” into an eclectic marketplace during a merchandise showcase presented by the South Brooklyn Local Development Corporation (SBLDC).
‘Funday Sunday,’ the borough’s premier art, dining, fashion, home furnishing and international foods district, lured summer frolickers to the area’s strip of restaurants, stores and vendors, who showcased and hawked the splendors of Brooklyn’s “BOCOCA,” an area comprising Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens.
Local businesses participated in the neighborhood celebration, whose organizers labor “to put smiles on every face, generate good vibes and good feelings.”
Dairy lovers plied their yen at the annual cheese−eating “Stinkfest” contest outside the Smith & Vine Wine Shop, 268 Smith Street, where sibling stores Stinky Brooklyn and The Jakewalk co−sponsored live entertainment on a stage, and a gourmet street food menu enjoyed by the hungry hordes at Smith & Vine’s al fresco eating area.
