SOUTH SIDE

SOUTH SIDE

Go beyond the
trendy cafes, clubs and boutiques of Williamsburg, and meet the
other, struggling residents of the burgeoning neighborhood in
an exhibition of 51 black-and-white photographs by Regina Monfort,
titled "Beyond Grand Street, Brooklyn, NY." The exhibit
will open at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Library at
Grand Army Plaza on March 5 with a reception from 6:30 pm to
8 pm in the Trustees Room.

Monfort spent seven years photographing the lives of Puerto Rican
and Dominican teenagers in Williamsburg’s South Side barrio.
"Betty" (Lindsay Park Houses, 2000) is pictured at
left. The exhibit will remain on display in the Grand Lobby through
April 27. For more information, call (718) 230-2100 or visit
the Web site at www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org.
