The sun appeared from behind the clouds in time for Saint Edmund Preparatory High School students to participate in their 10th annual Walk-a-thon around Marine Park.
As each homeroom lined up at the starting point, Ms. McGoldrick, director of alumni relations and social fundraising affairs, greeted each homeroom as the band and music teacher Mr. Malazzo played the ultimate bugle call: “Charge!”
After the walk, the participating students were treated to a bagel and juice breakfast.
All the money raised is goingtowards programs in the new wing of the school,2474 Ocean Avenue in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn, which will provide the students with a Library, Media and Fine Arts Center.
