Steering clear of heart disease

Brooklyn Women’s Services (BWS) believes the key to prevent heart disease is through education, therefore, this month, in celebration of American Heart Health Month, BWS with offer a free educational event.

BWS will host a special workshop for women, “Can We Really Prevent Heart Disease?,” February 23 at 7 p.m. This workshop will be presented by Maimonides Medical Center’s Cardiac Service Nurse Practitioners. Guests will learn how to prevent and lower their risk for heart disease. Space is limited, registration is required.

“We are so pleased to offer free education information to women about heart disease this month,” says Dr. Nicoletta Pallotta, director of Brooklyn Women’s Services. “Since they are the gatekeepers of healthcare for their families, and are responsible for 75% of their family’s healthcare decisions it is important that we provide them with the most current information necessary to make informed decisions.”

In addition, the staff of Brooklyn Women’s Services will wear red, February 19, to show their support for women’s heart disease awareness and education and free cardiac screenings will be provided to parents in several local schools.
