Hope remains!

The Brooklyn Aviators forced a winner-take-all game three playoff round against the Danbury Whalers on Saturday after beaching the Connecticut blow holes 5–2 at the Danbury Ice Arena.

Brooklyn may have lost Friday’s home game against Danbury in a 5–4 overtime decision, but Saturday’s victory proved that Brooklyn won’t be deterred in their fight for a spot in the Federal Hockey League’s semi-finals, which will bring them one step closer to the treasured Commissioner’s Cup.

Left winger Devin Guy drew first blood for Danbury on Saturday, scoring the opening period’s only point at the 11 minute mark.

Brooklyn center Chris Campanale evened everything up three minutes into the second frame, opening the floodgates for the Kings County flyers: Aviator Jason Dolgy scored three minutes after Campanale, who in turn scored again in the third, sparking three back-to-back goals that gave the A’s the win.

The Brooklyn Aviators will be in Connecticut today, but one can still watch the game at the Aviator Sports and Events Center [3159 Flatbush Ave. in Floyd Bennett Field in Marine Park, (718) 758-7580] tonight at a playoff viewing party. The puck drops at 5:05 pm. For more info, visit www.BrooklynAviators.com.
