Spinners 3
Cyclones 4

Saturday, Sept. 5 at Keyspan Park

The Cyclones finally got back on track with a classic Clone win over their possible playoff rivals, the Spinners.

Lowell got on the board first with a solo shot off starter Darin Gorski, but that was all they could manage before Gorski was pulled in the sixth.

Meanwhile, the Cyclones answered back with a Luis Rivera RBI triple.

The Cyclones added a run in the third on Sam Honeck’s two-out double — which he hit after major leaguer Carlos Beltran struck out. But don’t count out the rehabbing Beltran, who was 1-for-5 on the night.

The Brooks got another run in the sixth on Nicholas Santomauro’s RBI double, but stranded runners when Richard Lucas and Dock Doyle grounded out.

Those runs could’ve come in handy, as Lowell tied the score in the eighth with a two-spot.

But then the never-say-die Cyclones scored the game winner in the bottom of the ninth. Robbie Shields and Jordany Valdespin set the table with back-to-back singles — and Beltran laced one to right for the game winner.

Mike Powers got the win.
